McMANAWAY-----from May 2003 Researcher-----
McMANIMIE
Seeking information on Walter McManimie who was in Clay County McMANIMIE 13 April 1836 when he sold land in Orange Co. The website for William H. Long (http://www.geocities.com/HeartlandHills/3052whlong.htm) states he married Rachel Mary McManimie 3 Feb 1861 in Clay County, IN. My ancestors are first found in Indiana in Orange Co. Isaac McManimie was b. ca. 1773 VA, wife, Ann, born ca 1780 NC—some of the children married in Orange Co., and the name is spelled in different ways. Believe his daughters were Sarah and Elizabeth and his sons were Anthony and Allen. Other possible sons were Nelson, Walter, and Hiram. Isaac (1855) and Ann (1852) died in Clay Co., IL. Son Anthony died in Clay Co., IL, son Allen died in Effingham Co., IL, and I think daughter Sarah died there also. Elizabeth was in Lawrence, Co. in 1850 and then disappeared. Nelson went from Orange Co. to Putnam Co., IN then to Fulton Co., IL, and finally to Cloud County, KS. Question: is Walter the father of Rachel Mary Long, and any spellings of McManaway/McManimie valid.

SINGER/SINGERS-----from November 2001 Researcher-----
Looking for relatives of James Singer b. Ireland 1802; he was a farmer who had at least 2 sons born in Ireland: Robert in June 1852; Hugh in 1849; and possibly William in 1841.  James and sons came to Northumberland, and the sons were miners. Robert, my GGF, married Thomason Baker in 1877 and went with their 3 children (James, Thomas, & Eleanor) to the USA after 1882 where 3 more children were born: Mary Ann in Indiana 1885; my GM, Elizabeth, in 1888 & Robert William in 1890. They returned to Northumberland before 1893 where the last two children, Margaret and Hugh, were born. Mary Ann Singer was born in Clay County 2nd June 1885. Has anyone come across birth records for Elizabeth or Robert William? Any other Singer relatives immigrated to the USA that Robert would have met? Any idea why they left the US to return to the UK? That whole period is a total blank.
