| Someone said a
picture is worth a thousand words and that is true but a picture
with a list of names connected with faces is priceless. If you
have group pictures from Clay County with names you would like
to share with others, please contact the Library at the address

Basketball Team of Washington Township School

The
Washington Township School in Bowling Green included grades 1-12.
Pictured left to right are the members of the first basketball team:
Eurton CAMPBELL, Mearl KAY, Fred MILLER, “Connie” KHUNS, Willis
POWELL, and Radford BROWN, Captain.
Willis POWELL later became a teacher at the Bowling Green school
until his retirement in the mid-1960’s. (Editor’s note: Mr. Powell
taught two generations of my family. My father, Merle CRAFTON, had
Mr. Powell for his eighth grade teacher and baseball coach in the
mid 1920’s. Mr. Powell was also my (Patricia WILKINSON) eighth grade
teacher in 1960-61 and my brother’s, Thomas CRAFTON, teacher in
1965-66.

We have
several pictures at the Library, some have been
identified and some have not. Stop in today to see if
you recognize anyone. Several of the pictures have been
donated to the Library as orphans and we would like to
see them get to some one in the family. If you can
verify the identities of the orphaned photos you can
adopt them free of charge.
We have
many group pictures and newspaper pictures with names in
the family files for your research. Stop in the Library
to see what we have today.
